EVALUATE

EVALUATE

We’ve created a customized evaluation process that targets four specific categories. This evaluation focuses on concerns of zoonotic disease risk, animal behavior, the general welfare of the animal, and public safety. We evaluate both the animal being considered for an assistance role, as well as the human-animal interaction.

It’s important that all animal-intervention programs are governed by basic standards and regularly monitored by a veterinary professional.

Animal Evaluation

  • Allows veterinarian to assess overall animal health and welfare.
  • Allows veterinarian to assess preventative care to reduce zoonotic disease risk.
  • Allows veterinarian to identify/screen for potential diseases which can compromise assistance animal’s ability to perform job function appropriately and compromise the handler’s health.
  • Allows veterinarian to screen for temperament and behavioral traits which threaten public health and safety.

Human-Animal Evaluation

  • Allows veterinarian to assess the effectiveness of the human-animal partnership.
  • Allows veterinarian to assess the effectiveness of the therapy animal program.
  • Allows veterinarian to assess the mutual benefits of the human-animal bond.
  • Allows veterinarian to advocate for the assistance animal.
  • Allows veterinarian to collaborate with all individuals involved in the assistance animal therapy program to optimize the function of the human-animal bond.

Human-Animal Evaluation
