It's another #WhatsHappeningWednesday! Today, June 27th is US National PTSD Day. Assistance Animals Consulting is sharing two separate studies from the Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI) related to PTSD. These studies discuss Animal-Assisted Intervention for PTSD and The Effects of Service Dogs on Veterans with PTSD.
The Animal-Assisted Intervention for PTSD study concludes results have been predominantly positive, showing short-term improvements in depression, PTSD symptoms and anxiety.
The study on The Effects of Service Dogs on Veterans with PTSD indicates, preliminary results are demonstrating improvements in PTSD symptoms, sleep quality, mental well-being, social well-being, life satisfaction and medication use when veterans are paired with a service dog.
